In August 2015, Kim wrote a guest post Guest Post for the New York Academy of Medicine Blog “X-raying Orphans: Fictionalizing Medical History in Orphan #8”about what she learned about X-ray treatments on Jewish orphans in the early 20th century, the ethics involved with medical experimentation, and how she tried to deal with this subject matter in fiction.
In August 2015, Orphan #8 was chosen as a Target Club Pickto be published in a special Club Pick edition with 5000 signed copies.
